Ultimate self realization course 14.05.2015 (Q&A).....

Question: Does Krishna Make Us Forget Him?

Lord Sri Krishna states in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita (15.15):

"I am seated in everyone's heart, and from Me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness."

So, would this mean that it is actually due to Lord Krishna, Himself, that the living entities forgot Him at the very beginning and therefore we are in this material world? Wouldn't this give some people the opportunity to blame God even more for their suffering? Or does this "forgetfulness" that the Lord is speaking of, only refer to the forgetfulness of one's past life, as mentioned in Srila Prabhupada's purport?

Thank you very much.
Hare Krishna.

Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada,

Answers by Citing the Vedic Version:
He Only Gives Forgetfulness to Those Who Desire It

This refers to all kinds of forgetfulness, especially forgetfulness of Krishna. Krishna is not to blame because Krishna only gives forgetfulness to those who desire it. When a living entity stubbornly wants to misuse his minute independence by trying to be God or by trying to forget God instead of serving God, Krishna as His well-wishing friend supplies him with the necessary forgetfulness to do just that. This is Krishna’s kindness that He does not force anyone to be His devotee. He gives everyone the choice of whether they want to serve God or to forget God. So if someone chooses not to that is squarely, unequivocally their fault.
